Under the waning crescent you took the underworld path following the leathery padded paws of the fox as she danced through the night leaving her vestige deep in the dirt.

Her signature says once again, I was here but you did not see me, for I am the country road and paddock stalker in the shadows, for I am the gatherer under obsidian skies and I keep the company of owls and hares.

Rest in Peace dear man, just like the fox your impression remains deep in our hearts 🌹

Holy Summons

Let go….release…shed…surrender…its time to cross the threshold…the holy summons…separating…stepping into the Elder…stepping forward… towards… severing from old ways and states of being…separating from crisis…open to the opportunity…feel it in the belly…your soul is longing to grow…leave behind the worn out ways…your heart is expanding…you don’t have to remain stuck in the land of the hunters and the hunted…breathe yourself up to your fullest height…step into your shoes of confident compassion…step forward into the unknown…the magic…the blue flame…even when terrified…ask yourself… what is it we’re being asked to separate from… What shapes do you need to leave behind…immortal being…embrace your enlightened journey…your ladder awaits…eternal one…stepping up…

Thank You Damien Echols

“I believe there are only two unstoppable forces in the universe. One is love, the other is intelligence. I also believe that a person’s capacity to love is directly related to their intelligence level, just as hate corresponds to a person’s level of ignorance. The only thing that makes it impossible for the system to destroy you and grind your spirit into nothing is to be more intelligent than it is.”

― Damien Echols

I believe this man’s wisdom and grace has actually saved my life and the lives of many, his brand of magick is both authentic and potent as is his being, thank you Damien Echols, thank you. ❤

Book Review: Six Ways: Approaches & Entries for Practical Magic By Aidan Wachter

As we approach the anticipated “Age of Aquarius” new tools are surfacing, and I believe that Aidan Wachters book Six Ways is a veritable lighthouse for those with a desire to get connected in a no nonsense way to magic, and I know this book is destined to become a new classic for practitioners of Magic and Sorcery. As a teacher of the Metaphysical Artes now for over 40 years, I highly recommend this book. Having read this book, I am already selling my other books on Magic, as this book has all I need.

Reading Aidan’s book is like drinking a nice cold beverage on a hot summer’s day; it refreshes and quenches the thirst. Effortless to read and grasp, full of clear, easy to understand concepts and exercises with a twist of his great sense of humour with no dogma attached, which makes the book even more of a great tonic, guaranteed to move you swiftly towards your magical goals.

After just three weeks of practicing his “reclaiming rite” things shifted and manifested swiftly in my life more than any other practice I’ve experienced, Aidan an Aquarian himself is clear and solid in his teachings and his generosity of spirit goes above and beyond as he is so willing to give and share unstintingly.

Six Ways will guide you to variety of approaches, concepts and entries into magic in the simplest of forms that are obviously proven, as roads that have been travelled successfully. Here Aidan throws away the theory and literally gives you the bones, guts and dirt on how to set up a daily working practice, no matter your level of experience, this book will assist you. It will also remind you of the simple things you used to do, but maybe have forgotten. This work is simple and fluid.

As a fellow animist Aidan’s words resonated deeply. You will find Aidan will guide you through the simplest of instruction for resonating and plugging into working with spirits, allies and entities which will help beginners and can also be applied to existing practices. He will take you, like an old friend through chapters of Intention, Focus, Self Power, Trance, Divination, Raising Power, Offerings, Petitions, Sigils, Crossroads, Weaving, Consecration, Sorcery and a whole lot more. He offers a fresh straightforward view that is timely for the world we live in today. If you want to do more than just read about magic, (don’t we all ) then this book is for you to start living your Magic!

Aidan is also a highly gifted talismanic jeweller whose magical practices are rooted in witchcraft, folk magic, chaos magic, and animistic spirit work. This book, his first will be now high on my recommended reading list, and a must read for my students. I am so very grateful for such a concise, practical and well thought out book on Magic and Sorcery.

1 x White Sigil Powder Bottle with cork lid, made using a tradition recipe and is handmade by Astarté Earthwise

2 x  Hecate Charms tied with hemp

1 x Information Sheet with photo ideas

This Sigil powder glass bottle with cork is finished with the Symbols of Hecate and empowered for your magical use.

Used in ritual, as is, for making sigils, given as offerings, scattered for numerous reasons, used on the body, in charm bags/bottles, etc. Or added to water, fire for suffumigation, or used as incense, or added to incense…

The powder can be used for marking boundaries when laying the compass or casting the circle. It can be used to draw sigils on the ground when working outdoors. It is good for creating sigils when petitioning spirits, when collecting dirt from cemeteries or crossroads, it can be used to bless the home or ward it against negativity and also as a protection powder.

Sigils drawn with powders are miniature maps of the cosmos and doorways to access specific points in the other realms.  Most of the designs involve the use of an intersection of some sorts to represent crossing between worlds via the axis mundi also known to many as the World Tree. The rest of the design can be elaborated upon and created in the moment to match the deity or spirit being called or the realm being accessed. The best places to draw outdoor sigils and leave offerings at them are crossroads (especially dirt ones), graveyards, the foot of trees, or around a staff or stang driven into the earth. If you wish to use a sigil to leave an offering of food or drink make sure to draw it somewhere with earth and not a paved street as you’ll need to dig a hole big enough to bury or pour your offering into.

Wintertime Reaping

We have experienced our rattling perennial August winds here at the farm for the last couple of weeks. At times it’s been difficult to be outside in it, especially as we have the William’s river all around us in almost a circle, it blows even harder.

I am always looking for opportunities from Nature, and this annual blustery event is perfect for harvesting.

This morning on my walk, I bent to reap a basketful of naturally fallen leaves. I gathered up some red river gum leaves to use for smudging and smoking ceremonies.

I will go back later when time is available and gather the fallen branches also for wand making.

Part of the path of my spirituality is always being aware of what’s laying around on the ground near you.

Make time when you can to get outside take a walk and see what Nature has gifted you on the Wintery winds.

Now is the time to harvest your native smudging leaves for the year ahead, take advantage of this time!

Maybe start making some fire wands from fallen branches and take the time to be creative and gift them to like minded friends or people in you coven for Litha – Summer Solstice (Christmas gifts).

You could use Natures Calendar to start the work at Spring Equinox (when the sun moves into the sign of Libra), charge them at the cross quarter holy day Beltane (when the sun is at 15 degrees Scorpio) and gift them at Litha – Summer Solstice (when the sun moves into the sign of Capricorn).

In my tradition we use the Fire Wand in the North, our totem is the Rainbow Serpent. Maybe you could incorporate a Serpent into your wand!

Happy Harvesting!

Preparing for Winter Solstice

I went for a small ramble this afternoon with the intention of eventually going to the elderly old pine tree on this property.

I wanted to remove some pinion resin from its generous trunk for my midwinter observance, I was thankful to find just enough.

The scent filled my senses with all things of Yule inhaling it profoundly connected me to the deepest earth, to roots, dampness, darkness, family and the underworld.

Inhaling pinion is to me is a natural part of experiencing Winter, I have always associated pine with this time on the sacred round. I cannot wait to burn this at the Solstice and have Natures sweet perfume waft around my altar, honouring this time, the ancients, the bones, the flesh, the sinew, and the veins of rebirth.

I took a baby pine surrounded by its needles after a prayer to the beautiful tree for my altar.

My focus turned to the ground where I was grateful to find just one small cone that lay there not too far from my feet, I swept down to pick it up with both care and caution, as they can be so sharp. What a precious little cone for my offering to Pan.

These Nature takings connect me to my Scottish ancestry and the Caledonian forest of the British Isle.

Though less than one per cent of this original forest survives today in scattered remnants, maybe it has because of its names sake. The forest takes its name from the Romans who referred to Scotland as Caledonia, which derives from the early Celtic word ‘caleto’ which meant strong.

Here once again we stand at the strong and stable part of the round, in the Earth Quarter, as we await for the sun to be reborn.

Now I turn my direction towards this unique land and move on after stopping to greet some cows whose curiosity has drawn them in my direction. I now need some Australian Casuarina Pine to balance my altar offering, I desire pines from my past and my present, I wish to honour the ancestors of this land and this nation where I stand as well,  on the bend of the William’s river, and I walk towards a Casuarina and reach up high for just the right piece I give thanks and remove this small branch.

With pinion cupped in the palm of my right hand, a pine cone held carefully between my index finger and thumb, I also manage to put my other digits to use holding the pine needles from both trees. With a feeling of satisfaction I head for home.

On the journey I remember that my new friend Mario who is a hunter and taxidermist has sent me a couple of skulls that I hadn’t opened, that are the skulls of hares, one of these is for me, and I get excited knowing this will complete my altar offering here today.

When I return I find my beautiful hand carved pentacle, that a Piscean carpenter and High Priest called Brian made, I bought it from him when I lived in the USA over a decade ago now. I smile because the men that are both a part of this offering both earn a living working as carpenters, and here I am sharing my stories of trees.

This pentacle was made with such love and it once had an emerald placed in its centre, till my cockatiel bird was wandering on my altar one day and decided to eat it, and I watched in both horror and humour as the emerald disappeared into his beak, and was gone forever, he is a true gem!!

I’ve now put everything together on the pentacle and placed this on my altar for reflection and focus as the week ahead winds towards Mid Winter and the rebirth of the sun yet again, a time for celebration as the days will once again become longer though colder and I will have the time to once again tend to my gardens and restore the damage done.

Yuletide Blessings to all.
